OUR ADOPTION PROCESS

Cat Therapy and Rescue’s adoption process is designed to ensure (as best as possible) that the correct match is being made for each and every cat. Please take a moment to read and understand our process before proceeding to the adoption form beneath.

1. Adoption Application

Once you are ready to adopt a cat, fill in the Cat Adoption form (found below) and hit ‘submit’. Due to the hectic schedule at times for all of our team members, please be patient and rest assured we will get in touch as soon as possible.

2. Phone Screening

Once your adoption application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted by one of our Adoption Team members who will match you and your living situation with the most appropriate cat/kitten awaiting adoption.

This is an opportunity to go over your adoption application and discuss the adoption process in more detail.

3. Meeting The Cat or Kitten

If we have a cat match for you, your contact number or email address will be passed along to the foster parent of the cat/kitten you have chosen to visit, or we will give you the location of the PetSmart store if the kitty currently resides there.

If necessary, the foster parent will contact you to arrange a date and time convenient for you both.

If the cat/kitten is a match, adoption papers will be signed and the adoption fee is collected at that time.

4. Probationary Period

Once a cat/kitten is selected, it is placed for a probationary period of 2-3 weeks. During this time, the cat placement volunteer has regular follow-up with you to ensure the feline and you are happy with the placement.

If it is not working out, the cat/kitten is returned to the previous guardian or foster home and the adoption fee is returned at that time.

5. Finalising the Adoption

If the placement is deemed a success at the end of the probationary period by you, the cat placement volunteer and most importantly the cat, then we wish you all a long and happy life.
